I've had to completely rebuilt the My Picture Postcards website.
This led to doing trials between a WordPress Conventional website or a Google Sites website. Google is definitely easier in some ways, but I don't know how it will hold up as collections grow.
The biggest doubts are if I want to move my domain name over. It’s not as straight forward as my self-hosted site. But I did learn how to do that too.
Regarding the Google sites web page, I may just use it for back up pages to the collections, because it's so much easier to add photo images into the pages. Not only that, but I don't have to upload them per se, and can just directly select them from my Drive, which is pretty cool. It saves a couple steps in publishing.
You are invited to preview the site while still in construction mode with the link here. I haven’t given it a real name yet. It’s not getting indexed yet.
Maybe I should just publish it with another name. Any ideas? Drop it in the comments, please, and I’ll make a poll to decide which ones work best for readers. Tell me how the 2 compare.
My Picture Postcards on Google sites
Postcard Whisperer Newsletter has been quiet for the moment due to concentrating on getting my collections posted on the other websites.
The PW socials are receiving posts from my RSS feed via Publer. Anytime I post on the blogs, Publer auto posts to FB, IG, Threads, Mastodon, BlueSky & X for me.
I’m using the chat mostly. It’s turning into THE place to keep in touch with postcard and stamp events. We added an events calendar via @agendahero
Postcard Fest might actually become a thing. I had a great chat with fellow Small Bets member, Manny. He’s founder of the Orlando Creator Club. He helped me think through some of the details for Postcard Fest, and it was a real energizer.
Then I send a cold email off to the founder of FLoridiana Fest. Ken was great, gave me some tips and an invite to be a vendor at his show in February in Sarasota. You Need to COME see me and Shade there! <3 More to come on that later in the year.
Those conversations have spurred me on, and with Shade’s encouragement, I’ve started looking for venue’s. I’ve got my eyes set on The Polk Theatre, but haven’t scoped it out yet for details. Everyone, cross your fingers, send good vibe energy, or prayers. 🤗
I’ve been thinking on ideas to fund this project too. Thinking about taking out ads like junk car dealers… Not Joking!
We added a section to Navigating Schizophrenia. The joyriding posts get some lovely support on Notes. I’ve got to find an AI to generate background music for the videos. Do you know a good one?
